It doesn't matter whether the conservatorship was a good idea or not, what matters is whether she meets the strict legal definition of a person who can be put under conservatorship.

She does not meet the criteria. Maybe she can be put under a 5150 hold at some point, but the law is very clear. She can't be conserved again, unless it's demonstrated that she will never be able to.make rational decisions.

Totally agree! I knew that would be a huge mistake. Her fans thought they knew more than her doctors. Her father was a good conservator because he was able to limit her nutty behavior and keep her on her medication. Her husband thought he could control her instead she attacked him and he fled while admitting she needs to be on medication.

FYI being batshit crazy isn't enough to qualify a person for conservotorship. Being a danger to one's self or others may be grounds for involuntary hospitalization, but not for conervatorship. Conservatorship is meant only for people with permanent cognitive or mental disabilities, and Spears doesn't meet those criteria.

Sorry, but the the fans were actually correct about the conservatorship, not that I think Spears is better off now.

Conservatorship can be temporary or permanent and is basically for people who can't handle their own affairs. Although rare, even an alcoholic can have a conservatorship.

A person does lose their basic rights of autonomy if a court determines they are incompetent and appoint a conservator over their person and/or property, therefore not something to be done lightly.

She still appears wacky, but not to the same degree when her father was appointed. But, mental illness constantly changes. She can improve or become worse.

(b) A conservator of the estate may be appointed for a person who is substantially unable to manage his or her own financial resources or resist fraud or undue influence, except as provided for that person as described in subdivision (b) or (c) of Section 1828.5. Substantial inability may not be proved solely by isolated incidents of negligence or improvidence.

aka: basically for people who can't handle their own affairs.

One totally agrees.

I'm not saying Britney is crazy. I haven't met her - I have no idea. It's just the way she looks. Something in her eyes. A blank stare with a goofy smile, as if her mind is gone. It makes me think she's bananas.

But again, one has no idea if she is or not. If she is, yes, someone else should have been handling her affairs. Although, I don't know that her Father was the wisest choice. From what I've read, he's not exactly a model of stability, either.
