Queen of 'Shocking Death' scenes

I just saw Vinessa in "The Weight of Water" a few months ago and was horrified by her grizzy death scene. Now, I rent "The Hills have Eyes" and BANG! there she goes again. I hope this isn't a trend. She's great in both films, but if she's going to do shocking things I wish she'd switch to sex. What a beauty she is. Hope she survives "3:10 to Yuma".

I noticed that too. When I saw her death scene in The Hills Have Eyes, I immediately thought of her part in The Weight of Water. Very effective death mask for both. Plus the 'under water' scene in that film and in Bereft.

Yes, she is stunningly beautiful and I really hope she gets major notice for her latest film. I'm truly surprised that she hasn't received more attention for her work over the years!

Everything she's been in she's gotten great reviews. I think one of the big things with Vinessa is that she doesn't court the attention. She doesn't do much press at all. I think she enjoys being a working actress, but at the same time likes some of the anonymity that she has. That way she can still work and also enjoy a private life that is actually private. I always think the best actors are the ones who are really in it for the work and the love of acting. That's one of the reasons I personally like Vinessa. I'm sure over the years she could have done a bunch of crappy movies which would have padded her bank account and made her a star, but she chooses films wisely and works with good people. Her part in 3:10 to Yuma is very small, but I can't imagine not jumping at the chance to work with Crowe/Bale/Mangold. I totally think it was a GREAT choice on her part.

I quite agree with your points film-majick. One of the main reasons I like Shaw is because she is not constant fodder for the tabloids. However, I often resent that actors like Shaw who choose substance in their work, don't get the credit and recognition they deserve. And not so much from the masses, but from critics and directors other than Daly, who could offer Shaw the chance to progress without having to star in lesser productions in order to keep the work coming in. A few years ago, you didn't get the chance to see Shaw in very much, (which is what bothered me) though now, happily, it looks as if she has been very busy.

I too wish more directors would go with actors that do great work and aren't only interested in fame, but unfortunately that's Hollywood for ya. I know that she was handpicked by Alex Aja for Hills Have Eyes which was great for her as an actress. I'm sure the more she does, the more she'll get noticed. I really like the fact that she seems to want to work with good directors, actors etc. I'm sure by now she could have made a bunch of crappy movies.

I think too that she has a very busy life outside of acting so she must need to feel strongly about the work for her to take a part in a film.

I think she's a great actress and will in time find that she'll become more in demand, I think though that she'd have to want that and it seems sometimes to me that maybe she's just happy doing these smaller roles and just working on things she's passionate about. It just kind of sucks for her fans who would love to see her work more.

I wish her character in "40 days and 40 nights" would have experienced a shocking death scene. I hated her. Maybe she could have choked on some food, or fallen from a very high building? And her character, Kate, in "Corky Romano? I hated the icy witch. Wish she'd have been blown up.

Maybe Vinessa would be killed by being strangulated to death by the ripcords of her entangled parachute after ejecting from her stricken jet fighter into the sea.
