Why is he NOT a bigger name?

Sam is a common shortening of Samuel. Not a big deal.

He just hasn't had that breakthrough leading role yet. He's getting close to 50 now so he may just always be a good supporting character actor & nothing more.

he's been a leading actor plenty of times, Choke and Moon being only 2 great examples. So that ''nothing more'' is ridiculous to me,since it is obviously not true.

I think he's getting a little bigger every year...maybe some day he'll be a massive star...I dont see why not.

I get the feeling that he doesn't want to be a huge star because I think he could b,e he was one of three people Jon Favreau had in mind for Iron Man (RDJ and Clive Owen the others) and he's just about said that he doesn't want, when he was like 30 "Sudden fame is a really hard test of character. I wouldn't want to be Leonardo DiCaprio, much as I like him, because it can't be good for you" and he also said he prefers theater work to film so that kind of explains all the indie roles he takes as he gets more time off to do theater.
