I'm a Cincinnati Bengals' fan. He and Joe Montana broke my heart in SB XXIII. Great receiver...it sure was odd to see him in a Raiders uniform at the end of his career.

Another metric that goes sometimes unseen is the gap between Jerry Rice and the other all time great receivers, in both receptions and yards.

When compared to the all time greats at other NFL positions, he's so far above his peers.

Tom Brady only surpasses the number two passing yards leader (Drew Brees) by about 11%

Jerry Rice exceeds Larry Fitzgerald's total by more than 30%

For final comparison, Emmitt Smith is ahead of Walter Payton on the all time rushing yardage list by 9%

You can do the same with receptions/carries/completions. Jerry Rice is so far and away better than anyone else who's done it.
