Did the Scooby Doo movies ruin his career?

It seemed like that before Scooby he was getting big roles in mainstream movies and, after that, the roles dried up.

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

I thought the same thing. We saw so much of him in the '90s but after Scooby Doo, he pretty much became non-existent.

reply

No, his time was just up. He had brief successful run as a heartthrob, but he would have needed actual star qualities or acting talent to sustain a career.

reply

he was a teen heartthrob for a while. but he started to look old really quickly and he just wasn't that cute anymore. just look at his imdb pic. he's a nice looking guy, but not the male sex symbol who can attract young women.

The sequel flopping was the final nail in the coffin. Before that the first Scooby Doo was his only hit film in years.

reply

yeah. that was a nail in his coffin. He had so many crappy movies before that too. I can't believe his career lasted that long. Now these days Hollywood likes the chiseled look and not the cute look.

SMG is now reviving her career with "The Crazy Ones" The show stars Robin Williams. I guess freddie will be the stay a home dad while she's the bread winner.

Freddie and SMG are still happily married which is surprising(10 years)

Let's be honest...he has never really been an actor now has he....

reply

Doubtful. Like some one implied, Scooby Doo was one of his FEW hit roles.
