Yikes you guys are pretty cruel..

I recently stumbled upon this board after watching the movie "Tusk" and I was surprised to see him in this film. So I got curious and wanted to see what other stuff he's done and check out the message board. So I go and check out the message board on his page and just about every other post is "He's SO ugly!" "WHAT HAPPENED?!?!" or "HE'S SO FAT!" or "WAS HE THE WALRUS IN THE MOVIE TUSK" I've seen before as well. They just go on an on. It's disgusting.

The only reason you guys are attacking him is because you remember him as that little innocent boy and then you've seen a significant change in him today that you just don't "agree with". It's almost as if you're pissed off over the fact that he grew up and his looks changed so you feel the need to just rip into him.

I'm pretty sure actors get curious about their fans or what people say about them on IMDb so I can only imagine that Haley has looked at the forum on his page and probably feels like *beep*

But damn you guys, just friggin cool it lol. He's a human for god sake!!!

EDIT: One more thing: I can understand a lot of people going an attacking a celebrity on here that treats people like garbage or they just act like a total douche so yes I get that. But it doesn't at all appear that Osment has done anything or treated anyone poorly.

Horrible, aren't they?
I wonder sometimes if people are really more trended to be douchebags these days or if the social media sites have encouraged and made it easier for them to all rise to the surface.
It's not just HJO, it's common everywhere.

People now find it trendy to look for the negative because they feel inferior and think it somehow elevates themselves. Ironic that it actually does just the opposite.
I wonder if a lot of these insult artists are also some of those high school bullies that like to torment their peers to the point of suicide.

As far as Haley Joel Osment; he seems very level headed and down to earth and seems to be having the time of his life.
If my body of work included A.I.,Sixth Sense, Second Hand Lions and Pay it Forward I wouldn't worry too much about what a bunch of losers had to say.
He can afford to relax when it would take most actors (and these negative losers-never) a lifetime to catch up.
And if he can live life mostly incognito now all the better.
Being famous no longer seems like something to aspire to.

He's working, a lot. He has friends, he has a girlfriend. If he was truly ugly and horrible, none of that would be the case.

I think i realised why..

when you type into Google his name, you see images of him as a slim fresh faced kid. Next to pictures of him as an over weight adult and you clearly see the difference.

If you look at his adult pictures individually however, sure hes not a hotty but I wouldnt say hes ugly either. He reminds me of a cleaner at my work actually.

Also i think being over weight specifically doesnt help either. I think he has the sort of face shape that if your over weight it truely shows in the face. I think if he lost a lot of weight that would go some way to helping too.

But also hes worth 12 million which is a lot more than me!

I think he looks great. He still has those beautiful, distinctive eyes. Granted he was the most adorable child actor I'd seen in ages but still, I think he's grown into a pretty good looking guy.

Hmm, I guess you're right. Most likely I was in some sort of unwarranted upset state at the time.

But yeah I've never thought of acting as a real job, it just isn't. Still I was just taken aback by all of it because he was always pretty nice in interviews and to the public and was never a douchebag so I just was confused as to why they're all saying awful things.

To answer both 1 and 2 - you have to realize the difference between what the big names get and what the regular "working stiff" actor make, (not much). Just like someone that works a job for wages, saving up start their own business for the big bucks - actors have to do the same thing. Here's a calculator to help out:

http://www.actorscalculator.com/

A child actor might get a break when their only talent is being cute, but when they grow older they have to make it happen with what they have. This might mean working for $20/hr for a few months out of a year until they prove they have what it takes for someone to invest in them. Millions? Not quite. The investment money has to be there and the recession affected throw around money. That's why you see so many "big names" going to TV where the pay can be steady with a good show.

Haley does a lot of lower paid indy work to get better without whoring himself out to the carpet party scene; getting known for his work instead of self promoting. In other words, while others market themselves while laid off - he finds a movie to do.

I hope he keeps it up. I really like the films he's been able to snag lately.
