The Next DiCaprio

I just watched Pay it Forward for the first time and i was amazed by such talent at Haley's young age. He's brilliant and I see a definite and necessary comeback in our future.

It is interesting that you mention DiCaprio. You might not be familiar with the work of the late River Phoenix, but I often find the resemblance between the two uncanny. They're not identical, mind, especially when it comes to Leo's square face and River's high cheekbones. But they are very similar both in general appearance and in acting style.

So I can see Haley doing well in the roles Leo is now aging out of. The thing is, I don't think he can achieve that level of stardom. There seem to be a great many people who *want* him to be a Failed Former Child Actor, and if he had the lead in a big-budget film, he might get laughed out of there. I believe he has the ability, but he may never get the chance.

I dunno. I mean, yes, he has talent. I think my favorite Haley Joel Osment film is Secondhand Lions. He was adorable in his youth. I haven't seen him in anything recently which is why I came to this page to see what he's been working on and was pretty disappointed that his charming looks as an adolescent did not carry into his adulthood. XD Then again, Dicaprio has overrated looks too. So, maybe? But this is about acting talent, isn't it? I guess we'll see.

"his charming looks as an adolescent did not carry into his adulthood."

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. I don't understand what people think is so wrong with his looks. He has clear skin, nice hair, excellent teeth, and even if you don't think his features are especially attractive, I don't see that they're repellent either. What standard is he supposed to live up to?

Can't he just be an actor? Does he have to be a star?
