shareFor one, Latina or Latino refers to someone of Latin American descent, which Danica is not. Second, Portugese people are not Hispanic, they are Lusitanian. Danica isn't a sexy Latina, She's a sexy American who just happens to be of Scottish and Portugese descent.
shareActually Portugese people are Latin as the modern language is predominantly of Latin derivation, just like modern Spanish (former Iberian,Galician), just like modern French (former Gaul), Italian. However you are correct that she is NOT hispanic, as that term is used to describe latin inspired cultures in the new world not the old.
This is the first time I've heard the word Lusitanian used to describe *modern* Portuguese people, Lusitanian is an ancient term that once covered peoples now living in Spain...you get into a lot of trouble using that word to describe *modern* populations.

Fron the Wikipedia page you posted:
Lusitania was an ancient Roman province including approximately all of modern Portugal south of the Douro river, and part of modern Spain (the present autonomous community of Extremadura and a small part of the province of Salamanca).
and:
As with the Roman names of many European countries, "Lusitania" was and is often used as an alternative name for Portugal, especially in formal and literary or poetic contexts. The 16th Century colony which would develop into Brazil was named Nova Lusitânia ("New Lusitania"). In common use are such terms as "Lusophone", meaning Portuguese-speaking, and "Lusitanic" refering to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries - once Portugal's colonies and presently independent countries still sharing some common heritage.
Actually, the true Latins are not a race but a culture and they originated in Europe. Italians, Spaniards, Portuguese, French, etc. And since Danica is Portuguese in blood, she IS Latin.
shareShe may come from a Latin background, but she is not Latina. Latina refers to a female from Latin America, as does the term Hispanic. But back to Danica, she neither. She's also part Scottish and who knows what else. She was born and raised in the USA, which makes her an American. Not a hyphenated American, just an American.
shareYou are correct sir!
