You picked the wrong Beatle! John sang "Girl" not Paul. 😀

But, to answer your question...yes, he was probably smoking a joint anyway! 😀

I have a Beatles songbook that describes that sound(because I guess you're supposed to sing it) as "oooths"

I would just describe it as "Fffffffffffff" while sucking in.

For fun, I always sing a heavily enunciated "oooths" whenever I perform the song!
