Bill has said that Project 2025 is nothing but a bogeyman invented by the left, yet Trump is now appointing people on his team who have advocated and even help write Project 2025. You would think for someone that has been so against Trump he would be more aware of this.
Bill Maher is one of those independent 'freethinkers' who runs interference for right wing lunatics and downplays their extremism because he's mad over pronouns or trans athletes.
I'm pushing 70, but when I was a young man, liberals and conservatives pretty much had similar objectives but took different paths to get there or at least try. Sure, there were fundamental differences in philosophy but there was much common ground between them.
Classic liberals are dying off and being replaced by far left Marxists who can't tell you what a woman is. Once Maher's generation dies off what's left of the left won't be pretty.
You commented that JFK mentioned in a debate with Nixon that they had similar objectives but took different paths to get there.
So, I joked that JFK - like Nixon - wanted to bug the Watergate Hotel. But JFK wasn't doing it for political reasons, he would be doing it to spy on women, because JFK was a known womaniser.
I used "Marilyn Monroe" because of the almost-certain affair they had, but I could have just said "spy on women."
Why Maher thinks this is a leftist boogey man is beyond me. Trump leans conservative, so in setting up his administration, pretty much anyone he chooses will agree with at least some parts of Project 2025. Frankly, I was assuming by the leftist rage that Project 2025 was some sort of far right manifesto that traditional conservatives like me would distance themselves from. Imagine my surprise when I went to the site and found that this is what they are advocating for:
*Secure the border, finish building the wall, and deport illegal aliens
*De-weaponize the Federal Government by increasing accountability and oversight of the FBI and DOJ
*Unleash American energy production to reduce energy prices
*Cut the growth of government spending to reduce inflation
*Make federal bureaucrats more accountable to the democratically elected President and Congress
*Improve education by moving control and funding of education from DC bureaucrats directly to parents and state and local governments
*Ban biological males from competing in women' s sports
Now, some of those are too general for my tastes, but they are only objectives, not bills that have been sponsored. Some of those objectives are pretty straight forward actually. Maybe those behind Project 2025 have a hidden agenda, but what they're advocating for, at least publicly, will be a benefit to ALL Americans.
Maybe the hullabaloo over Project 2025 is that the left doesn't want Trump to get credit for improving the country.
I heard they also want to bring back high flow flushing toilets, The Dukes of Hazzard TV show, and make Wendy's bring back their 'Where's The Beef' commercials.
