Lear Stole Series Ideas from Black Writer

A black writer named Eric Monte who worked on All in the Family created The Jeffersons, Good Times and other black shows, but Lear took credit for them. Monte had pitched an idea about a series revolving around a black family for 3 years before Lear finally agreed.

Monte had to sue. He received $1 million and a small royalty for one series, but no royalty for his others. Then, he was blacklisted by Lear and his Hollywood friends, therefore he couldn't find any more work in the industry.

Very disappointed in Lear considering his anti-racist, liberal reputation. Not cool at all! Like Edith would say, "Shame, shame on you!"

You waited until the man croaked to start with the smearing, eh?

reply

Not a smear when it's true. Truth is the truth.

Ironically, I found out after he died while researching in order to do a tribute to him.

All in the Family is still one of the greatest shows created. And, he was still an innovator. It's unfortunate that he didn't want to share some of the glory.

Yesterday I read of how he also stole English shows! Yet, the media never tells these stories. I've read so many autobiographies, and there seems to be an ingrained self-censorship, being in fear of fear.

Then saw this on YouTube (Demond Wilson)

As per the video, Lear exploited people. Very much a greedy, selfish hypocrite. What a shame.

The media knows which side of the bread is buttered.
