Deserved an Emmy for Angels in America!!
if emmy awards meant anything, he should have won(in a LEAD role:Prior IS the main character)for his stunning performance in Angels...Al Pacino was OK but justin was incredible.

shareYou speak the truth. Al Pacino was probably the least interesting part of the film. I would have nominate him for an Emmy for sure, however he most certainly wasn't lead. He was supporting. Justin Kirk should have been nominated in the lead category, as well as won.
Best way to go about it is switch Justin with Al and there you have it.
"I don't like so much freedom down there. It makes me tingle in my giblets."
I could not agree more. He's such a good comedic actor, but this movie proves truly how much range he has.
shareif i remember rightly it;s because he was initially listed as a support actor, then, after the majority of votes had been collated re-categorized as a lead actor, therefore nulling all his previous votes. which must be pretty rough.
but yes, disagree with the pacino comments, i think he was sublime (save his final line before he dies, which was a bit hammy,) but kirk really stood out for me. to capture that sense of abandonment and mortal fear, and juxtapose it with the surreal hilarity of the angelic visitations and especially the scene with mother pitt, truly brilliant work.
i've just started watching weeds and hope to plough through it and enjoy seeing him and mary-louise parker on screen together again (the dream/hallucination sequence in AiA was awesomeness)
'Don't worry, if I were you I wouldn't remember me either'
I don't think anyone here was really degrading Pacino's performance. Well, perhaps calling it OK was what did it, I do think he was fantastic, and it's one of his better performances in quite some time. But Justin Kirk was better than him, definitely. I think since Pacino's ... you know ... Pacino, it was a no brainer to give him the Emmy. Nothing wrong with it, but still.
And Justin's marvelous in Weeds. The first three seasons are wonderful, I haven't seen all of the fourth but it's certainly lacking. It could have ended after the third season and I'd have been happy.
"...the short one's being very droll."
i just finished angels in america and before reaching midway i was sure he'd won one of those emmies! i liked him the best, Merrill strip was a close second.
