Star Wars will always be in trouble when...

the apparent boss running the company wears a shirt saying "The Force is female"

I’ll never understand why she continues to do her job when it’s been rumored she was never a Star Wars fan and has no respect to the established fan base. We were the paying customers for this franchise. Also The Mandalorian is likely dead due to the firing of Gina Carano. You claim to want more strong female characters in Star Wars yet fire the one who was embraced by fans.

reply

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

What makes you think that Cara Dune was "the one" embraced by fans above and beyond Bo Katan and Ahsoka Tano. Cara Dune was little more than a pair of fists belonging to an actress who can't act.

Take a look at an actual Star Wars forum. The vast majority of fans are appalled at Carano and aren't the least bit surprised or alarmed that Cara won't be in the next season.

reply

Really, This Star Wars forum isn't moderatored by Lucusfilm is it. And not everybody has seen the cartoons man.

reply

I don't watch the cartoons either. But those characters made a far bigger impression than Cara Dune. Ok maybe the jury is still out on Ahsoka for me but Bo Katan looks far more promising.

Frankly she had no respect for George Lucas. Seriously this woman climbed to the top by attaching herself to more talented men (aka Steven Spielberg, George Lucas). She like a parasite. George should have kept Star Wars and commissioned other people to make movies for him. At least he would have some say over it.

reply

WTF are you talking about?

They trusted her with running their production companies and studios. She didn't climb on top of them. They hired her for important jobs.

George sold up and handed over control and responsibility knowing he wasn't going to be the final word any more. Then later he felt awkward about not dictating everything so he left entirely.

reply

It's because she knows the media has her back.

If Iger or anyone else at the top decided to fire her, she would go around screaming at the top of her lungs it was over her being a woman, and the systemic sexism of the film industry, and yadda yadda yawn - as opposed to such comparative trivialities as, you know, her gross mismanagement of a billion dollar property - and we all know they would be all too glad to take that narrative, run with it, and scream "-ist" and "-phobe" at anyone who disagrees until the end of all of our lives.

Having a functional business model is, apparently, not quite as important as appeasing journalists and Twitter mobs. I don't understand it, either, but then, maybe that's why I'm not some big shot CEO.

Her contract ends end of September, and I think the reason why she has not been fired yet, is because she has immense dirt on many people at Disney. And waiting for her contract to run out, might be the only play.

Just my view.

reply

She looks like the Tin Man.
