Why does she look so bad for her age?
I actually don't know what happened in the past five years, but if someone told me that was a 47 year old woman, I wouldn't bat an eye.

What made me kinda scared was this recent video on yahoo where she looked almost mid 40s-ish, that was very alarming to me.
Thin white women always age poorly. They look very angular and the skin looks too taut.
shareNot always. Helen Mirren look fantastic. Julia Ann Moore, Charlize Therone and Potia DeRossi are more examples of women over 40 that look great. These are just the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.

shareKatie has suffered from Bulimia back in her Dawson's Creek days and she's had some rapid weight gain and loss in the last few years.. anyway I still think she's beautiful even though she does look her age.

LovelyReader, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore and Portia DeRossi are not stick thin women. They have lovely curves, and thus some thin layers of fat to make their skin look better. Charlize Theron is thin, but an athletic build- plus she is not as old as some of those others yet. Time will tell. For the record, I do not think Katie Holmes looks "bad," some women just age less noticeably than others.
