I thought he would have been huge by now

This guy has talent. From when I first saw him in films I though he was going to own Hollywood. Now he seems to getting less famous. What's with that?

reply

Same here. I'm surprised that I'm seeing less of him in recent years and not more.

Twelve years later, same question - where did this guy go? He had a small renaissance in 2016 with "Hell and High Water" and "Warcraft," but back to obscurity after that.

reply

Fame doesn't mean anything, as long as he's getting good roles -- and not only has Ben already had some great roles so far in his career, but it looks like he's set to have some really choice roles coming up as well. The people who are most talented are the ones who most often go under the radar for the longest time, so I'm not that surprised he hasn't made it 'big'.

My middle name is ready. No, that doesn't sound right. I eat ready for breakfast.

Ryan Gosling came up and took away his career.

reply

Ryan Gosling is so overrated.

Yeah, I think he's a pretty amazing actor. He creates such vivid characters, and puts such energy into them, that he's often – for me, anyway – one of the most memorable aspects of any film he's in. (I'm just watching the remake of 3:10 to Yuma, and he comes close to completely stealing the show, even from Christian Bale and Russell Crowe.)

But he's not really a lead actor – leastways, not in the usual Hollywood formula – and he's not the kind of actor who just serves up his own personality in role after role. So, if anything, he has to be a little pickier about the parts he accepts than the scores of leads who just get by on good posture and expensive dental work.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

just about to say that

”Do the stars gaze back?" Now *that's* a question.

reply

He really, REALLY is. I'm not saying he's a bad actor by any means, it's just some people treat like he is this generation's Daniel Day-Lewis.

reply

I think it's because of his rom-com appeal.

He just has more fans who are blinded because of the Notebook and Crazy, Stupid, Love.

That being said, I think he IS a great actor but is he better than the likes of JGL, McAvoy, Fassbender, or Hardy, not in my opinion.
