Why do Spanish people hate Penelope Cruz?

For many reasons.
She's not pretty, she has an irritating voice, and above all, she's a bad actress that became famous just for having sex with famous people (at least here in Spain).
We can't understand why she likes so much to the people from the United States. It's a mystery XD

I'm spaniard and I don't get it either.

However there are two spanish sayings that may shed some light: a) "if someone criticizes something from Spain then theres no doubt, that person is spaniard" b) something about the envy being the national sport in Spain.

We may have had an empire in the past, however when judging people born here we are like a village, theres a lot of envy for anyone who succeeds.

Yeah, however this country idolizes Elsa Pataki only because shes like a northern goddess... when shes even more sluttier and way worse actress.

I think the problem is PC looks like a regular spanish girl. Shes cute but seriously, you can go to a night pub or a public library and it would be no surprise if you find a girl with the same ratial traits (mediterranean) even hotter.

However spanish blonde bimbos here are a bit more scarce and WAY more demanded.

If Spanish people are jealous of her then they seem to have REALLY low standards.

Watched "Don't move", I must say Cruz's acting in it is one of the best performances from actress I've watched.
