What has this bald sack of shit done to merit the ego he has?

I'm racking my brain to come up with something Corgan has done that is truly great, but keep drawing blanks. He made a few vaguely listenable, "I-hate-mom-and-want-to-kill-myself" LPs in the 90s, and has now been creatively irrelevant for the better part of three decades. As an artist, Corgan is humiliated by vastly more eclectic peers like Trent Reznor, Thom Yorke, Flea, Damon Albarn and Adam Yauch. Oh, and the guy could never sing for toffee.

reply

Well the band was better than anyone you mentioned...

reply

Adam Yauch who the fuck is that?

Was he on Bonanza?

reply

To losers with dyed hair and nose piercings, I'm sure it was.

reply

Really? who the fuck are the characters you mentioned?

I know the first 3...but what did you expect was going to happen?

reply

If you haven't heard of artists who've sold tens of millions of records, that's kinda on you.

reply

Come on...those early albums from the 90's.

reply

Yes, they were alright. But Corgan is somehow more self-aggrandising than a Paul McCartney or Robert Plant. Roger Waters fellates himself on a Corgan-esque level, but at least he's earned it.

reply

1979 is the best single of the 1990's.

Yes Billy has was always been bald.

Now your putting McCartney and Plant against Corgan?

Can we add Beethoven and Chopin?

reply

Now your putting McCartney and Plant against Corgan?

Not quite. I'm pointing to vastly superior artists who have far greater humility than Corgan.

reply

You can fill a hundred one hit wonders from the 70's, 80's and 90's and of course they'd eat Corgan alive.

Because of humility.

Is that guy an asshole?

Probably.

reply

Thom Yorke? lol...

How to scream in a microphone ...

reply

Smashing Pumpkins were an excellent band, better than Nirvana.

reply

Totally agree.

reply

"I hate mom, enjoy suicidal posturing, and have a distortion pedal." Hardly world-beating artistry.

reply

Meh, I never got that.

Can you give an example?

reply

The song "Today" is about killing oneself. The Pumpkins attracted hordes of black-clad weirdos for a reason.

reply

Actually. That's sad. And you're right.

Although, I'm pretty sure "Adam's Song" killed more people in the 2000's.

reply

/\ Blink 182

reply

One song, okay. And Kurt Cobain screamed "Rape me!" I hate that song with a passion but Nirvana still did some great work.

C'mon, "Cherub Rock" kicks ass:

Here's my impression of Thom Yorke:

YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(insert music)

Shake your head, you're growing as a human...

reply

A nerve has been hit.

reply

KID A was terrible.

I was re-watching Radiohead on the late night shows last week and really it embarrassing.

reply

It's terrible crap.

That guy was so full of himself and so was the band.

reply

Radiohead are true artists who venture into new stylistic territory with each release. Corgan never did. He wasn't capable.

reply

I am pretty indifferent to Billy Corgan. He is okay. But I have never heard of him having a huge ego. Do you have any examples, because I never recall reading anything about it or hearing disappointing stories where he blew off fans?

reply

His rampant egoism has been pretty self-evident over the years. Anyway:

Sharon Osbourne?

I thought she was dad.

Glad she's writing online for loudersound.com

reply

Wow. What class A dick. I didn’t know he thought so highly of himself.

reply

My impression again...here it is again:

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(meth addict shakes head)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

reply

Surprised you don't get anything out of the early Radiohead stuff. They too used to do rockers about feeling rather sorry for oneself (Creep, Just, My Iron Lung etc). Thankfully they grew up.

reply

And now went into oblivion.

They're not even 2000's nostalgia.

That was the ultimate pretentious rock band of the 2000's.

reply

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is the only album I would say changed my life. It got me through so much.

reply

You are the one with the ego. You wouldn't talk like that to his face. Billy's 6’3” and would humble your arrogant butt with ease.
