She was great in Reign Over Me.
I didn't even know she was in this movie but she was hilarious. Well, I thought her performance was really funny. I kept laughing everytime I saw her pop up throughout the movie. She was great.

sharei agree. i dont understand her role in the movie. i'm sure it was something symbolic but i just didnt get it.
The absence of God will bring you comfort, baby.
she was a crazy person, with more than likely a history of sexual abuse...
if i remember correctly she lost her husband right? and was very lonely. hardly something to laugh at. her character wasn't created for comic relief.
with that said, wow bad did you want a BJ from her!!! :D
At the end, her story dovetailed with Charlie's, as they both found a bond with each other. What I don't get is how she seemed fairly normal by the last scenes of the movie. Is the implication that her meeting Charlie instantly "cured" her? But more likely what was meant is that Charlie and Donna "clicked." and are both finding the other a kindred soul.
shareWell, she also started seeing a psychologist, so I'm sure that helped her out. And I would think that people with mental health problems feel more comfortable around other people with similar conditions because it makes them feel more at ease and 'normal' and less likely to be judged. I'm not sure we're supposed to think that they're going to fall in love, but just that they are on the right path to getting better/interacting with other people and making friends.
