Why do people say she can't act?

She was praised for her performance in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was her first starring role. She was also good in The Illusionist and Easy Virtue, and probably other films that I haven't seen. Maybe she won't win an Oscar, but I could see her winning a Golden Globe one day, as long as she stays away from the box office bombs like Total Recall and does more films like the ones I mentioned. Sure, she's no Meryl Streep, but who is?

I know she was on that, I just meant her first starring film role. And I think she's much better than what any of her work on that show may have revealed. Like I said, her performance in TCM '03 was generally praised. She did a very convincing job and is one of the reasons it's considered by some to be one of the better remakes.

I agree! She was awesome in TCM and man did I have a big crush on her. And you are right! I feel that her acting is actually pretty good.

Maybe people say it...because it's true.

I Pronounce you Chuck and Larry, Summer Catch, Total Recall. When you are in bomb after box office bomb, guess what? You can't act.

I just her in the film "Easy Virtue" on cable and thought she was quite good. Took place in England in the 1920s and she played opposite Colin Firth and Kirstin Scott Thomas and held her own.

She also sang the in the beginning credits and was very good. Didn't know it was her singing till the credits, but in the beginning of the film I thought this woman singing is really good.
