Does she resent her mother ?
I saw her wikipedia entry and it mentions she doesn't like comparisons to Jayne Mansfield, and when she won her Emmy in 2006 she only thanked and mentioned her dad.

shareShe constantly mentions her mom in interviews and thanked her in her Golden Globe speech.
shareIn reality, she really didn't know her mother. She was 3 when her mother died.
shareExactly! Thank you. She was 3 years old when her mother died. How much do any of us really remember from when we were three and under? I don't think she resents her mother... she never really knew her mother.
When I pull the wings off of the fly/ The fly never wonders why I did it.
Maybe she's also just tired of hearing it all the time and would prefer to be known as her own person and not "the daughter of".
shareHer mother made a brief career out of next to nothing.
She's made a longer career out of less than zero.

Mariska does not resent her mother in any way. Perhaps she has gotten fustrated on being the "son/daughter of..." but that's part of the package if you decide to follow your famous parent's footsteps. In her Emmy speech, her mind was more focused on her dad because he was in the hospital at the time and after the awards ceremony, she went straight to the hospital with her Emmy. A few weeks later, Mickey was dead. However, in her Golden Globes speech from 2005, Mariska did mention her mom in her acceptence speech.
In 2008, Mariska picked up Jayne's Texas Film Hall of Fame award- it was said that her speech was one of the tearful moments of the ceremony.
If anything, Mariska is proud of her mother- she just didn't know her like a daughter should know her mother as Jayne died before they could have that chance.
