The question was Are there any films where he actually plays a virtuous person, and you list Irreversible. I'm all for justice (revenge?), but really now, you missed the point of the film.

Well, you are right, he is not virtuous in Irreversible, but at least, not "the bad guy" of the story.
I forgot "l'Elève" (the Pupil), a beautiful novel from Henry James. In this movie, he is realy a virtuous guy.
