Total Creep

and thats without me having fully watched his films.

His "allegations" doesnt surprise me. Creep should be locked up.

What surprises me is that he hasnt gotten as much heat before and after. Goes to show that the Harvey Weinstein case speaks volumes of what actually goes up.

"Von Trier has occasionally courted controversy by his treatment of his leading ladies.[74] He and Björk famously fell out during the shooting of Dancer in the Dark, to the point where Björk would abscond from filming for days at a time.[citation needed] She stated about Trier, who among other things shattered a monitor while it was next to her, "...you can take quite sexist film directors like Woody Allen or Stanley Kubrick and still they are the one that provide the soul to their movies. In Lars von Trier’s case it is not so and he knows it. He needs a female to provide his work soul. And he envies them and hates them for it. So he has to destroy them during the filming. And hide the evidence."[75] Despite this, other actresses such as Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg have spoken out in defence of von Trier's approach.[75][76][77] Nymphomaniac star Stacy Martin has stated that he never forced her to do anything that was outside her comfort zone. She said "I don't think he's a misogynist. The fact that he sometimes depicts women as troubled or dangerous or dark or even evil; that doesn't automatically make him anti-feminist. It's a very dated argument. I think that Lars loves women."[78]

Nicole Kidman, who starred in von Trier's Dogville, said in an interview with ABC Radio National: "I think I tried to quit the film three times because he said, 'I want to tie you up and whip you, and that's not to be kind.' I was, like, what do you mean? I've come all this way to rehearse with you, to work with you, and now you're telling me you want to tie me up and whip me? But that's Lars, and Lars takes his clothes off and stands there naked and you're like, 'Oh, put your clothes back on, Lars, please, let's just shoot the film.' But he's very, very raw and he's almost like a child in that he'll say and do anything. And we would have to eat dinner every night and most of the time that would end with me in tears because Lars would sit next to me and drink peach schnapps and get drunk and get abusive and I'd leave and...anyway, then we'd go to work the next morning."[79] "

"Sexual harassment allegation

Björk made a public statement regarding Von Trier's sexual harassment,[80] in which Von Trier remains unnamed, though the Los Angeles Times has found corroboration identifying him.[81] In the Facebook posting, Björk describes the difficulties in facing his retribution: "It was extremely clear to me when I walked into the actresses profession that my humiliation and role as a lesser sexually harassed being was the norm and set in stone with the director and a staff of dozens who enabled it and encouraged it. I became aware of that it is a universal thing that a director can touch and harass his actresses at will and the institution of film allows it. When I turned the director down repeatedly he sulked and punished me and created for his team an impressive net of illusion where I was framed as the difficult one." She also stated, "And in my opinion he had a more fair and meaningful relationship with his actresses after my confrontation so there is hope. Let's hope this statement supports the actresses and actors all over. Let's stop this. There is a wave of change in the world".[80][82] Von Trier has denied the accusations made against him.[81] "

"Harassment allegation

In October 2017, Björk posted on her Facebook page that she had been sexually harassed by a "Danish film director she worked with".[13] She commented:

it was extremely clear to me when i walked into the actresses profession that my humiliation and role as a lesser sexually harassed being was the norm and set in stone with the director and a staff of dozens who enabled it and encouraged it. i became aware of that it is a universal thing that a director can touch and harass his actresses at will and the institution of film allows it. and in my opinion he had a more fair and meaningful relationship with his actresses after my confrontation so there is hope. let's hope this statement supports the actresses and actors all over. let's stop this. there is a wave of change in the world."[14]

The Los Angeles Times found evidence identifying him as Lars von Trier.[15] Von Trier has rejected Björk's allegation that he sexually harassed her during the making of the film Dancer in the Dark, and said "That was not the case. But that we were definitely not friends, that’s a fact," to Danish daily Jyllands-Posten in its online edition. Peter Aalbaek Jensen, the producer of Dancer in the Dark, told Jyllands-Posten that "As far as I remember we [Lars von Trier and I] were the victims. That woman was stronger than both Lars von Trier and me and our company put together. She dictated everything and was about to close a movie of 100m kroner [$16m]."[16] After von Trier's statement, Björk explained the details about this incident, saying:[17]

in the spirit of #metoo i would like to lend women around the world a hand with a more detailed description of my experience with a danish director . it feels extremely difficult to come out with something of this nature into the public , especially when immediately ridiculed by offenders . i fully sympathise with everyone who hesitates , even for years . but i feel it is the right time especially now when it could make a change . here comes a list of the encounters that i think count as sexual harassment :

1 after each take the director ran up to me and wrapped his arms around me for a long time in front of all crew or alone and stroked me sometimes for minutes against my wishes

2 when after 2 months of this i said he had to stop the touching , he exploded and broke a chair in front of everyone on set . like someone who has always been allowed to fondle his actresses . then we all got sent home .

3 during the whole filming process there were constant awkward paralysing unwanted whispered sexual offers from him with graphic descriptions , sometimes with his wife standing next to us .

4 while filming in sweden , he threatened to climb from his room´s balcony over to mine in the middle of the night with a clear sexual intention , while his wife was in the room next door . i escaped to my friends room . this was what finally woke me up to the severity of all this and made me stand my ground

5 fabricated stories in the press about me being difficult by his producer . this matches beautifully the weinstein methods and bullying . i have never eaten a shirt . not sure that is even possible .

6 i didnt comply or agree on being sexually harassed . that was then portrayed as me being difficult . if being difficult is standing up to being treated like that , i´ll own it .

hope

let´s break this curse

Björk's manager, Derek Birkett, has also accused von Trier's actions in the past, stating:[18]

I have worked with Björk for over 30 years and have never made a single statement or interview regarding our work together. This time is different.

I have read the lies written by Lars and his producer Peter about Björk – and feel compelled to speak out and put the record straight. Over the last 30 years the Dancer in the Dark project is the one and only time she has fallen out with a collaborator. This was a result of the directors ongoing, disrespectful verbal and physical abuse which continued after both Björk and myself demanded that he stop behaving this way. Björk completed the film out of respect for the cast and everyone involved. I feel compelled to publicly speak out in fierce support of Björk in regards to her terrible experiences working with Lars Von Trier, and I back what she has said 110%."

Good for her for standing up.

I was a fan back in the day. I like her even more now.

reply

Good.

I was never a fan. Only like like two songs but she needs all the support she can get it. I am definitely fully behind her on this.

Because of allegations? Is that all it takes? Seems odd that you take this reactive approach against this person while calling women bimbo's on another thread...

You haven't seen his films fully yet you use his creative work to judge his character...Are you aware that's what the German Nazi's did? Punishment solely based on the creative works of an artist without evidence of a crime...Judging works of art, literature, or films as the works of "degenerates".

I'm not sure what to make of Von Trier but that's not the point of my comment. Do you have a reliable source for the Kidman story? From my understanding Bjork took back her allegations against Von Trier.

reply

Sadly the courts favor the criminals. Especially if they are high powered so that's why we have to say allegations instead of guilty mother fucker should be fried like the nazi's did being tortured to death before incinerated.

I doubt a highly artistic Bjork would make this crap up for no reason as if it doesnt have serious backlash to these poor artists career. Her career took off way after that stupid film so there's absolutely no reason for her to go back to it other than the fact that its true! She must carry trauma and resentment because of it.

She isn't the only one that has come out against this creep.

All of quotes are citations from wikipedia I read from different biographies. I didn't write one word( except what you already quoted) and I just did so it is recent.

I never fully saw his films because when I watched parts of it I got the premise and the creepiness of it and was turned off by it. Hence when I read this it didnt surprise me.

Last time I checked I am not an official Nazi and didn't condemn this fagot to the gas chamber but given if he is found guilty it wouldn't be a bad idea.

In none of the articles I read did even remotely mention her taking it back. If it did it was because she had enough of the backlash rather then her admitting it never happened.

Out of content, and there's a huge difference between what a person thinks than how a person acts. What's in a person's brain and an active sex offender.

No we say allegations because people have a right to the presumption of innocence before anything can be proven. Otherwise anyone can accuse anyone of anything without proof and the accused has their life and reputation ruined on an accusation.

Bjork once attacked an innocent woman for no reason at an airport (has she apologized for that?), so it's helpful to have proof on top of her accusation (in any case) - while considering that other female cast members throughout his career do not share similar stories. Bjork claims he learned to treat women better after their encounter.
Von Trier outed himself as the accused when Bjork claimed she was harassed by a Danish director. He explained his difficult relationship with her. Her apparent instability on set was reported in 2009.
Bjork had much more clout and prestige than Von Trier during Dancer in the Dark. It's more likely she would have been believed had she come foward. A big star such as her at the time would not have been blacklisted.

So yeah at the end of the day, guilt needs to be determined by more than accusation and judging the content of creative works - as mentioned. Regardless if whatever one thinks the courts are "too soft" - which is often the excuse for witchunts, vigilantism, and mob rule.

meetoo is a scam..... and liberals in hollywood hate free thinking so no wonder trier is frowned upon.

btw, OP is a weak fool who believes anything

reply

You obviously are too brainwashed by the courts to believe all that bullshit as if that is actually the truth. In the court they can hide, waver, mask, dismiss, and make anything they like appear however they like. Last couple of weeks have read so many guilty cases that the jackass has walked over bullshit reasons though everyone body and their mothers know they are guilty but we should just go by your little black book. If i go to your house and rob your ass but your i wiped my fingerprints then for sure it's hell wasn't me because you've got no proof.

These big time women ain't going to be accusing this faggot for the sake of coming out in the spotlight. Different types saying the same shit to be muddled with this slime.

Bjork did it publicly and on cameras and paid the price and yes she had. How do we know it was a reprecusion from the trauma of this exact experience?

She had to say that because of publicity. He still making movies and probably does he's harassment better. It's been several years. He had to have gotten better at it.

Now that's bullshit. For starters she clearly mentions biased in the environment and fear of reprecushions. So many women have been blacklist and quickly forgotten for list. At that time silience was much more common. She was probably whispered to stay quite for the sake of the movie and her career. Could you imagine what wold happened to the movie if she had come out then in there. Straight to the garbage, probably along with her singing care as well. Though you can say bjork is famous. She is not big time nor irreplacable. They can replace her so fast it'll make your head spin. You think species girl would've made that movie had she come out before hand? Studios would say " nobody wants to see a molested victim being an alien showing off their tits" next. I'm sure they are cases.

reply

You don't know what the truth is. If I accused someone you cared for of harassment should that be enough to have the life of the one you care for ruined? Should that be enough to throw them in prison? And using someone's creative works to support evidence of a crime - simply by the belief that you think it's disgusting - is puritanical and dangerous.

You use of the homophobic slur "faggot" undermines your concern, as well as previously referring to women as "bimbo's". You seem to just have a grudge aganist this director.

Would do you think of the accusations against Trump that are also backed by his boasting? Should he still be President?

reply

I've said this before and I'll say it again.

I will never let any allegation or some hashtag metoo bullshit lead me to hate or think ill of a person. Famous, non famous, etc. Von Trier is a great filmmaker. I've only seen a few of his movies but I love them. They are different! He is a great story teller. I don't care if he did do what he's accused of. I watch his stories. His personal life is his. I wish more people realized that.

reply

As an artist his personal life is correlated to his art. It is important that we know it doesnt come from the gutter.
I dont see how you can not take offense as a woman if a man is harrassing women and abusing power all in the name of a pretend art. Seems like your the type of person that likes hot dogs and dont care where it comes from.
He is a director not always a story teller. Those are actors. He has no business in getting personal with them or infringing on their personal space when he's work is on the camera and not within.
So what if it does turn out to be proven. Would that change your mind?

reply

I completely disagree with you about his personal life being correlated to his art. A songwriter can write a song about something they only read about, they don't have to experience in their real life. Naturally, it would make the song a little bit better if they do but not a necessary thing. Same thing with directors, filmmakers, actors, etc. His personal life is his. We live in this world now that makes it seem like we are entitled to comment on everything. We aren't. You wouldn't like it if every move, every decision, every little thing in your life was in the spotlight.

Yes, I am indeed a woman, but thats about all I have in common with Bjork or any other hashtag me too victim. If these women or any woman out there is honestly raped or abused in some way, then I'm right behind you sister. That being said, SO MANY of these allegations are things that are blown so far out of portion. Someone petting my hair might make me uncomfortable but I wouldn't end a career over it. I wouldn't even think twice about it. I would ask the person to stop. If they didn't, then I would take the next step, whatever I thought made sense at the time. Depends on the situation.

Actors do not tell stories. They act. They READ STORIES that directors and filmmakers create. Of course a director has every right to direct, sometimes that might mean he wants to get close to (*gasp*) a woman and instruct her on what she needs to do for the following scene. Knowing the real truth of this blown out nonsense, his hand probably brushed by her hair. Big deal.

No, my mind will not change. True. Not True. I don't give a damn about his personal life. Unlike a lot of people in the world, I realize what woman are attempting to do. Its scary. I just hope that when shit hits the fan, the men remaining know I'm on their side.

P.S. I LOVE hot dogs. I don't care what they are made of. Could be pink marshmallows, could be unused parts of a baby pig..this girl has to eat and hot dogs are cheap bud.

Interesting how the Nicole Kidman interview continues (and why it's good to take things in context). For the rest of this interview, see the transcript here http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/archived/movietime/interview-with-nicole-kidman-actor-margot-at-the/3292346 :

Kidman: ... Lars would sit next to me and drink peach schnapps and get drunk and get abusive and I'd leave and...anyway, then we'd go to work the next morning. But I say this laughing...

Julie Rigg: I do now understand why you didn't do the sequel.

Nicole Kidman: I didn't do the sequel but I'm still very good friends with him, strangely enough, because I admire his honesty and I see him as an artist, and I say, my gosh, it's such a hard world now to have a unique voice, and he certainly has that, and he hasn't bent over to any of the mainstream approaches to filmmaking or money, and I admire it.

reply

Short version: Bjork and Nicole Kidman think he's gross but he's been found guilty of nothing.
