Watch The Seventh Seal in his honor.
It's a great film about a knight who tries to play chess with death to keep his friends alive from the plague.
Good stuff and great black and white filming.

It’s a brilliant film, one of Bergman’s greatest, and the chess game has to be one of the most recognisable images in cinema history - even people who have never seen the film know that scene.
shareExcellent film!
shareI’m not sure how many of Bergman and MVS’s collaborations you have seen but The Virgin Spring is another must... one of von Sydow’s finest performances and a powerful, disturbing story with some stunning imagery.
All of their work together was marvellous. One of the most fruitful pairings of filmmaker and actor in the history of cinema.
I saw that a LONG time ago but would rewatch.
