She was looking for a step up the ladder in status & career. Not to mention she made sure to have the kids quick to lock into his money in case the marriage didn't last which we all knew it wouldn't. Douglas was a known sex addict who likely has STDs. Yet with her looks she married him! So she should be thankful!

You can't take care of the money after the kids come. That's her guaranteed payday! She's also been married to him for 13 yrs. After so many years prenups get weaker if there is one. I think they've passed that mark. Besides Douglas is saying his marriage is fine and those remarks about his throat cancer & oral sex will be worth more cash because she'll play that card too emotionally. That's where the lawyer will bring in the bipolar incident.

He should be, and I bet that he is, thankful. She did just fine before marrying, he was already getting old and working less. How often you can find a classy, beautiful woman who wants to marry for life? Sadly not that easy thing to do.
shareEven if she married Michael to climb up a ladder of success in Hollywood, I don't want them to split. They have been through so much in their personal life, e.g. Michael's tryst with cancer, Catherine's bipolar disorder and Michael's son Cameron's imprisonment. Still, they fought with the crises together. If their marriage can last for 13 years, why can't they be together for the rest of their lives? I pray to God that they sort out their differences and stay together for the sake of their children and for their love.

I think he was the lucky one in this match. When they get married, she was a pretty, promising young star. He was a middle-aged actor who had been very successful, but with the Wall Street days behind. I'm glad she got away, in fact she should have done so sooner. He is obviously a violent man, like his father Kirk, and not a very agreeable one to live with (in an article interview, years ago, she confided she had to hide her shopping items so he would not get angry. What's the good of marrying a wealthy star ?) His public revelations about the cause of his cancer were not terribly elegant either. I hope she'll get better now, and do good movies again.
