Forrest Whittaker gives an Oscar caliber performance in the title role as The Butler.
Oprah gives a good performance also, but the kudo's go to Mr Whittaker.

I think his chances are pretty good because he didn't, in the words of Robert Downey Jr., go full retard in The Butler.

Yes!!!

I think another Oscar for FW is a definite maybe.

On the other hand, while I agree that Oprah gave a good performance, I don't think her character did that much. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong, but I would be surprised if she was nominated for an Oscar. I'd be shocked if she won.

Forest is so versatile. See, E.G., the tender movie "Smoke" wherein I believe he could be seen to be as the lead actor. I've loved his work since then, which was maybe 1995 - HPB, Musician
