He wouldve been great in STDS9

I just found out today that he auditioned for this part and I agree, he would have made a great Sisko! Don't get me wrong, I still think Avery Brooks was excellent and overall is a fine actor, buddy Carl would have definitely made a great Sisko.

To tell you the truth, I think I would have been a bigger fan of the show if Carl had been in it.

Me three! I thought Avery Brooks's portrayal of Captain Sisko was good. He made that character basically for what he is in the Trek community now, but he is too shakespearian and sometimes fruity in his portrayal sometimes. Now, if Carl Weathers was Sisko, man, he's got the build, the commanding persona, and he's REALLY FROM NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA just like the real Captain Sisko! Producers made a mistake. Idiots.

I only know of him from the Rocky movies, but yes I think he would have portrayed Sisko with a LOT of strength and charm. Not to say Brooks wasn't excellent. I imagine the producers decided against Weathers because he was already too well known from previous hit movies. It probably didn't help that his character was last seen being murdered in the ring by that Russian sociopath.
