Anyone know why carl didnt want to be in the new Rocky? not even in archive footage, they had to use a standin for him.

Because Carl wanted an actual part in the movie. He must have forgotten that his character (Apollo Creed) was killed off in "Rocky IV" and having Weathers appear in "Rocky Balboa" even as someone else would ruin the realm of the story. Carl then demanded Stallone give him a large sum of money for his permission to use the footage and Sly said no.
