Coincidental That He Played 'Machete' in Spy Kids???

i swear i remember when i was a kid he was on law and order or one of those type of shows and he played a guy called "machete" i wont forget cause the spanish pronunciation stood out to me at the time

It's not really coincidental. Both "Machete" and "Spy Kids" were written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. I'm pretty sure the name connection is supposed to be a joke.

The mock trailer in Planet Terror was the joke, which they just made into an actual movie.

It was all Robert Rodriguez. The kid from Spy Kids, Daryl Sabara, also has a part in Machete, and is mentioned in the main cast.

Well I didn't watch all of Machete because of how pathetic it was, and I don't remember much of Spy Kids, but wasn't he Machete Cortez in spy kids aswell, I thought it was supposed to be some kind of joke where it was like, the Machete movie is what happened before he did whatever he did in spy kids.

i read somewhere that machete was a charachter written by either rodriguez or trejo a long time ago but was never made into a movie. Witch i guess is why they used him so many times, than after the fake trailer i guess interest grew big enough to make the film.

Machete was not pathetic, DC1992. It was a total blast... a popcorn movie supreme...not meant to change the world. Not all movies have to be the same thing. I think Machete is damn near perfect !

Yup, I surprisingly enjoyed it.
