Jon's TV dad Tim Allen may land a new tv show in 2011

Tim Allen may be starring in "Man Up" on ABC. It has a similar concept to the wildly popular Home Improvement, one of the most successful sit-coms of all time. I know a lot of JTT fans are also Home Improvement fans. That is something Jon maybe should have thought about before skipping the 8th season and series finale. Yeah, I like Jon but I am still mad that he skipped the finale. So anyway, I thought some people on this board would be interested in Tim's new show. I am excited about the show, I will be watching, will you? I like Tim and of course, I love Home Improvement. I hope Tim's new show has similarities to Home Improvement, but also some new twists of some kind. I would love to see the Home Imp alum guest star sometime, if in fact this show is picked up. I know Jon probably won't, since he and Tim don't seem to get along, but maybe Pat, Richard, and Zach could, and Taran if he wanted. Anyway, I'm excited, so I just wanted to share the news if anyone doesn't know what's been going on.

I heard that his charcter in the show was described as a 'man stuck in a female world' which is sort of like the reverse of Home Improvement.
It does sound interesting - I will give it a go no doubt, if it gets picked up.

Not sure about Home Improvement stars guest starring, would be cool I suppose but, maybe 'Man Up' will be trying to set itself apart? It will probably have slightly different homour as well (no sure, there's are all guesses).

Also, what's this about Tim and Jonathan not getting along? I thought they got on really well. I read in an interview somewhere (will have to dig it up, cant remember where i saw it just now) Tim saying that he loves the kid to death but was a bit miffed that he kept making films after he left HI. But, only because they all thought he left to completely focus on his school work. And I got the impression that Tim was hamming it up for the media anyway.
I doubt there are any cast members that don't get along today. I mean, it's been more than a decade since the show ended.

Cheers.

I read in an article that Jon was upset at Tim when he went back to the Home Improvement set to tape the Christmas episode for Season 8. Jon went back to set to tape that episode, and Tim questioned him about filming movies when he said he was going back to school. And Jon didn't like that. Supposedly, the Home Improvement cast did not welcome him back with open arms, they had moved on. I got this impression after watching the E! True Hollywood Story on Home Improvement. I honestly don't think Jon will ever reunite with the Home Improvement cast for anything. He didn't go to the TV Land awards in 2009.

Do you know of anywhere I could watchthe Home Improvement E! True Hollywood Story episode?

You never know. He may decide to reunite someday. Besides, we don't know the reason behind him not being there for the TV Land Awards. Perhaps he wasn't available at that time. Never know.

Also, check this out:http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20130381,00.html Jonathan said himself there are no hard feelings between him and Tim...

Cheers.

I think you may be able to watch the E! True Hollywood Story on Youtube. It used to be on there, but I don't know if it still is. Or you could try to catch a rerun on tv. That's what I did a few years ago. Tim said they had moved on in that episode. I got the distinct impression that Jon was kind of not wanted back on the Home Improvement set from that. Tim was the person who said in the press this stuff about Jon. I think there may still be articles on JTTarchive.net about that, in the articles section.

But yeah, I don't think Jon ever talked about their rift on set, Tim did. Not sure why, I think maybe Jon doesn't want to bash people in the press, or maybe didn't want to own up to the allegations that Tim made. I mean, Tim basically called Jon a liar, in my opinion. I mean, I don't think Jon or Tim have a lot of hard feelings for each other, but maybe at the same time, they aren't that comfortable together. I also think Tim may not have been the only Home Improvement cast member to be upset with Jon for not doing the 8th Season. And I think Jon basically made up some lame excuse for not doing the series finale. I think he was so unhappy shooting the Christmas episode that he didn't want to go back. I mean, there really is no excuse for him doing that to the show that he owes his career to. He should have been there. Some of this is my opinion, but there are plenty of people who think that Jon and Tim have a bad off-screen relationship. Do I think they hate each other? No. Do I think Tim is disappointed in Jon? Yes.

Home Improvement is Tim's show, I think he still loves that show. And he owns the set now I think. I think that was on the E! True Hollywood Story too. I think Tim may think that Jon proved himself to be ungrateful and unreliable. On the E! True Hollywood Story, some producer of Home Improvement said that Jon said he would do the series finale in December, and then after all the talks with his people he wouldn't do it. The producer said, I don't blame him, I blame the business and what it does to people.

I really think you should watch the E! True Hollywood Story of Home Improvement. And then, make your conclusions as I have. Nothing gave me the understanding of the situation like that did. I mean, I had read a few articles/interviews from back in 1999 about the whole thing. But most of what I formed my opinions on, is based on that show. It was great, gave a great background on behind the scenes stuff, that I couldn't find anywhere else.

On the E! True Hollywood Story, Tim had this to say about the Taylor family's reaction to Randy's return home on the Christmas episode: "We don't like him. We don't want him around. It's pretty much like the real life story." Also, Jon's grandfather had died just a few weeks before the finale was to be taped. Maybe he just didn't feel like goofing around in front of a camera at this time of his life, especially after learning that he wasn't particularly welcome on the show any more.

Yes, I remember Tim saying that. I think Jon didn't feel welcome on the show anymore and that's why he wasn't there. And that's why I think that he won't ever reunite with the cast again for anything. His grandfather died then? Hadn't heard that. Did you read that in an article? Do you have a link? Just wondering.
