I honestly think he'd be a pretty good dramatic actor.

He doesn't show it in his movies that much, but I think he could pull off a great performance in a movie that is 100% drama.

Agree. Like Adam Sandler. They were actually pretty good together in The Meyerowitz Stories (2017).

He was excellent in Permanent Midnight (1998).

reply

I actually think Ben Stiller is one of the more tolerable comedic actors. I don't think he tries too hard to be funny.

reply

PERMANENT MIDNIGHT...YES...THAT IS THE MOVIE THAT CROSSED MY MIND WHEN I READ THIS THREAD.

reply

Hes played dramatic roles he was a douchebag in a 90s movie called black and white! check it out if you have a chance.

reply

Many comedians are excellent dramatic actors so I agree.

reply

That entire clique - him, Sandler, Will Ferrell etc - are much better at dramatic roles, than comedy.

reply

For me, Stiller is the only one who can probably do both without being annoying.

reply

Stiller is the prettiest of them, so that might factor in your opinion. :)
Ferrell was pretty great in drama. Even in more serious roles in comedies.

reply

Stiller looks like a monkey though.

reply

Not really, he just likes making those faces. He's a fairly decent looking guy, just watch Walter Mitty.

reply

I agree. Not a bad director/screenwriter either.

reply

Tropic Thunder is a comedy classic.

reply

Many of the top dramatic actors started as comedians.

Jim Carrey. Tom Hanks. Bill Murray. Robin Williams.

reply

Gilbert Gottfried is another one. Oh wait...

reply

I agree. He's been pretty good in the dramas I've seen him in.
