Should have been bigger!

I think its kind of sad, that Ione Skye doesnt have a more mainstream career, i know she may choose not to do a lot of the 'Hollywood' roles, but 1 or 2 wont hurt, particularly as most actors mix up there career to include a few high profile roles. I am sure this is not Ione's fault, but i just dont understand how she managed to fade. I think 'Say Anything...' was a very good film and i would really like to see her in something a little mainstream like that, you know, a really well done good film. I dont know why she wasnt in bigger films after Say Anything... although i did read somewhere that she wasnt very agressive pursuing any follow ups (i think she said that she didnt even bother going in to audition for 'Heathers', which actually helped elevate Winona Ryder). Finally, she doesnt look very different either, she is still very beautiful.

I think Ione just likes to stick to acting in independent films. She has been in quite a few, and there have been some that have been recognized. It would be nice to see her in more things because I think she was pretty good in "Say Anything".

Sad? Hmm... I'm actually glad she didn't turn out to be some kind of generic and bland A-lister like Nicole Kidman or Julia Roberts. Although those actresses are okay, for all their fame, money and awards, they don't have any movies that shine as bright as "Say Anything". You might like what she did in "Gas, Food, Lodging."

Yeah - after Say Anything, u really would have thought her career would have taken off

I think the person who started this topic just meant that Ione should get more recognition. I too always wondered after "Say Anything" why she wasn't more visible. She is obviously intelligent, talented, and beautiful. So yes I will agree I wouldn't want her to become another bland mainstream Julia Roberts, but just maybe a little more exposure wouldn't hurt, beyond the very small films she does.
