Sometimes he sounds American. Sometimes he sounds English. Sometimes his Swedish inflections are apparent.
It's very peculiar.
It is how Swedes speak English. Generally. a mishmash of English and American with some Swedish inflection here and there as you said.

Stellan speaks damn near flawless american english, he doesn't even really sound like he has a european accent, same thing with Alan Rickman.

Stellan's accent isn't stereotypical thick, no, but nobody speaks with a stereotypical thick accent. Stellan speaks in the way most Swedes I've met seem to speak English. Can definitely tell his tone shifts here and there, if one is fluent in Swedish.

I understand what you mean about Alan Rickman but Stellan's 1st language is Swedish, unlike Rickman's whose 1st language is English. I just don't see the correlation there.
