Better before eye was fixed

I thought it made him more alluring, more appealing, and more vulnerable.

Kind of like Forrester Whittaker. That man is huge and tough, yet I'll never take him seriously in a one dimensional role. His eye is so dominant and adds depth to his characters. I could say the same for Emma Roberts, I think her eye makes her even more attractive.

Then again, I've never had the eye problem, so maybe it was a pain he had to deal with every day. Who am I to judge?

Empty what is full. Fill what is empty. Scratch what itches.

His eyes are probably the most commented and appealing feature of his overall appearance.
I have noticed that in the his early films he did have a problem with the eyes, called astigmatism together with eyelid drooping. The first condition is (and should have been) fixed, as much as it is possible. The second condition is not an illness, it is more of a symptom and could be fixed with more care and rest. It is not painful, I have it in a milder form. For an actor, having to deal with so much and depending on the appearance and the "look" it is important to be impeccable, whereas in normal life would be charming to have flaws here and there. I think it is good that his eyes are more symmetrical now, and also now his face seems more complete, the attention now is concentrated on the eyes instead of being distracted by their asymmetry (IMO).
