Out of the Blue: 9/11

I cant believe no one has posted a thing about this amazing poem. I just watched it on youtube and it is one of the most heart wrenching things I have ever seen. Rufus portrays 'the man' in a way that no one else could. The subtle changes in his voice give an already amazing poem a personality and brings it to life. I strongly recommend you watch this.

I can't believe it either. Rufus is plainly in love with the sound and feel of the English language and how we love him back for it! What an astonishing performance.

(Don't you relish the paradoxical power of a voice that always seems to be on the verge of giving out?)

I hadn't heard of this until I saw this posting. So amazing, and yes, heart-wrenching. The poem expressed so well so many of the emotions of the day. RS' take on it was pitch-perfect.

I think there is little, if anything, RS can't do, and do exceptionally well. Jeez, what range!

I just came across this recently, so I'm going to bump this thread because I think his performance here is awesome. This man SO deserves to be cast in feature roles in great films! Somebody get on that, please.

He filmed "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" earlier this year, he's currently making "All Things to All Men" with Gabriel Byrne, and he'll start filming Alex Proyas's "Paradise Lost" early next year.

I said GREAT films. ;)

Since you've not seen them yet, how do you know they're not? And whether or not a film is "GREAT" is surely subjective.

I think you're missing my point: that Sewell is an excellent actor and deserves to be getting major roles (not villains or supporting roles) in award-worthy fare a la the kind of offers Colin Firth is getting.

It's a compliment. :)
