what is it about this man?

He's not a hollywood hunk like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, and yet, he's admired by sooo many girls! (including me, I think in my country I'm the only one who knows who he is though)

The first time I saw him was in.. that Kim Basinger movie that he played some sort of devil or whatever, I liked him a lot in that one, and yesterday I was delighted to see him in The Illusionist. What is it about him that makes him so hot?

lol! Well I can't answer for you, but for me it's his talent.

I'm not into dull pretty boys like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt who can't take their eyes off themselves in a mirror and overestimate their talent and importance by 1000-fold. Rufus is very attractive, but he doesn't know it which has a charm all of it's own. Rufus is also an incredibly brilliant actor and he doesn't know that either--though with all of the awards he's won this year, no doubt he's beginning to suspect. ;)

Seriously, he's a lovely sweet man and I think that comes across on the screen.(I presume you're speaking of film since you say you think you're the only one in your country who knows who he is. If you were in the UK, where he does most of this stage work, he'd be a fairly household name.) I think it's a difficult quality to ignore in a film full of self-absorbed mannequins.

He deserves a 'leading' man role paired with a beautiful woman. He usually plays the 'heavy' and I'd like to see him get away from that so much.

Not what he wants. He's wants to be a character actor.

He's really much too gifted for the insipid crap Hollywood has to offer most of the time to it's leading actors. He's a prime example of how someone talented can be pigeon-holed because of their looks. I feel sorry for him sometimes. He's caught between Hollywood who thinks he has the look of a villain (beyond weird--they must be looking at something different than I am) and his fans who think he has the look of an leading man. And all the poor man wants to do it act.

I agree, I have seen Rufus in two play and many many films.

I first spotted him in Martha meet Frank Daniel and Lawrence (It is called something else in America) and I thought he was funny he just had something about him, something sexy and he is sooo beautiful. In every film and every play I have seen him in he brings new talents. I would like to see Rufus in another comedy, as I believe he himself would. I suspect that he is naturally funny and smart. Okay so I said more than Ditto.
