The Precursor of Gina Carano, Back in the Old Days

Cynthia Rothrock was a pioneer. Like Chuck Norris, she won martial arts championships and then moved into movies. I believe she even had some elective surgery to make herself more marketable. She fought an uphill battle in the 60s as a woman trying to establish herself in a genre where there were no women, and it was a genre that was not then even recognized in the United States. If you like action movies with women who can in fact fight, check out Cynthia’s movies. Great art, they are not. Great fun, they are. They are essential history for fans of badass babes.

I remember her best as China O'Brien, a shame she never really had a hit that was mainstream.

Yes. A lot of pioneers never get the reward they deserve, at least not in their lifetime, but it takes courage and a type of inspiration to be the first of your kind. I think there are 2 types of consummately admirable people: those who are pioneers, and those who leave legacies. Not all legacists are pioneers, but all pioneers are legascists. Thank you for your reply.

It's too bad that she didn't get to work with Sylvester Stallone on The Executioner.

I was wondering when she did this. Maybe around 1992-1993? Was just watching "Guardian Angel" from 1994, and she seems pretty busty. I don't remember her being like that in some earlier movies. She's very cute, and looks sexy when glammed up even just a bit. Shame she felt she had to go the implant route, though.
