It's interesting to note that Katharine and Sam married each other, because both of them qualify as movie actors who were expected to become mega-stars, but never did.
That's not to say that their careers came to an end after their "big breaks," but neither attained the stardom predicted for them.
The movie "Lifeguard" was supposed to launch Sam Elliott but his bad attitude seems to have kept him down.
After "The Graduate," it was thought that Katharine Ross would be on a level with the all-time greats. Aside from "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid," and "The Stepford Wives," what has she really done?
Again, this is not to say that they never did any good work afterward.....but none of the roles they played amounted to major motion picture status.
