Joan Rivers or Phyllis Diller?

Which stand-up comedian do you like better?

reply

Diller because she wasn't a nasty, hateful cow like Rivers. She was also a one of a kind. Rivers spent the last two decades of her career ripping off Don Rickles and Richard Blackwell after running out of material in the 1970s.

reply

So, she ripped off material ''for the past two decades'' = 20yrs = 2003-2023?

She ran out of material in the 70's?

2023-1979 = 44 years?

American school systems and mathS, eh?

reply

OMG, this response is pure comedy gold and the reason why I had to delurk and register.

Joan Rivers stopped doing stand up in the 2000s. (Her last special was around 2005.) If you understood English and knew anything about American culture, you would've known that this is what the person you're responding to probably meant, the last 20 years of her standup career, not the last 20 years of her life. The last 20 years of her life, she did nothing except do reality TV show appearances, sell junk on the Home Shopping Network and red carpet interviewing.

What pale imitation of European civilization are you from, by the way? You have the obnoxious tone of someone from New Zealand or Australia. A lot of you types have been getting mouthy lately about American culture, so I'm wondering if you're not from this area of the world. I guess because you're all so cocky now because you have low IQ trash like Jane Campion and Andrew Dominik directing movies about American history and lore. Just remember that any fool can shoot a movie that looks and appears professional nowadays, because the technology makes it that easy. Even a midrange DSLR and video editing software can produce a slick looking movie that would've been impossible decades ago. Don't think that because members of your own are now making movies that you're better than us and are in a position to talk down to us. They're YouTubers with a pedigree.

But here's a better question. Why are you all such cowards, and why do you think spending all your free time on forums trolling Americans about their culture and history is going to defeat us? Look at how pathetic some of you are getting. You're now necroposting ancient threads posted by people who aren't here anymore. This is how desperate so many of you are getting to engage with and insult Americans.

Sad.

reply

Rivers. Funnier and easier to look at.

reply

Joan by a mile.
Nothing against Diller though, she simply wasn’t as memorable imo.

reply

I like both, but I'm a huge Joan Rivers fan.

reply

Both are great, but Phyllis Diller has the edge.
