The problem is that Hollywood has a very, very short list of actors that they want in their movies, and unfortunately, Jonathan isn't on it. They have Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and so on. He is a talented guy and should be given more roles. Preach it to Hollywood, because if enough ppl bitch about it, they might consider giving the audience what they want.

His substance abuse is a huge problem and liability for the studios. I love him and really hope he gets it together, and beats his inner demons.

He took a long break, almost two years! He did only a little break from the break with "Albert Nobbs"! Than he came back and did a couple of Independent movies, that was his choice, he knew that those movies are no big productions.
He did one big movie "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" but it was no success and than he worked on "Dracula" which was a good idea but how it was made was not great and so this was also no success.
It's a slowly way back, one step after another and hopefully there is a bigger success for him that brings up his name again, that he is back into the game!

I miss this guy so much. His prime was back in 2005 and 2006 when he did stuff like Match Point and Mission Impossible 3. I really thought he was gonna blow up and be the next big thing but in 2007 and 2008 his films did poorly and he just faded off into obscurity. I know he had a few personal issues happen from his mom dying to his breakup with Reena to his attempted suicide to his being banned from an airline for saying something racist and acting drunk on a plane, to his drinking rehab problems over and over. All of it just added up. Could be a combination of choosing poor projects and bad word of mouth that he is tough to work with and directors not wanting to work with him. I know he was rumored to be in the New Star Wars which JJ Abrams is directing and JJ directed him in MI3. Now he just seems stuck in bad movies and TV shows that get cancelled. I hope he can make it back because he is so talented and charismatic on screen. I hate to see lesser talented people like bradley cooper, michael fassbender, channing tatum, jai courtney, and luke evans even have a bigger career than him.

I also wonder why him and victoria cohen broke up. she was gorgeous and they seemed happy. now hes engaged to this mara lane woman, some asian looking chick who looks as sickly and ugly as reena. why cant he get something better than that. and lately in photos he seems out of it and high and sad...hope the guy can pull it together.

IMO he was on track to blow up in the early days of his series The Tudors. Just look at the careers of his costars Henry Cavill and Natalie Dormer. It's really very sad…. It's was the substance issue along with the bad behaviour i.e. using the N word in a drunken rage on a flight. Many actors get away with having a drug problem, but in his case, his issues were well publicized a la Lindsay Lohan. I'm guessing he's difficult to insure, and has a reputation for being difficult to work with.

Jonny's loyal fans believe in him and know that he is getting his career back on track. These things take time but I believe his ship has been righted. Have a little faith.

agreed kozykatz!Jonny had some personal Problems after his mother died in 2007.
But he faced them to overcome them. Last year he won the Irish Post Award and
now we are looking foward to his new Projects, like Damascus Cover.People should
stop in mantra-like repeating his crisis of the past.Past is over.we live in presence.
