Oh it's real.

I first experienced it as a kid when one of my old neighbor couples lost one of their SO's. He deteriorated just two days after the funeral and died within a week of his wife.

She didnt take it well at all.

Although I'm sure being 84 played a part in it.

Yes. She was in her 80s. You're very emotionally and physically sensitive at that age.

That's why Joan Rivers (also in her 80s) couldn't handle a simple endoscopy procedure.

She died of a stroke. Most likely it was the stress of her daughter's death and associated high blood pressure, not grief itself that caused it.

Yes, but typically you have to be old. (Young people only think [or wish] they're going to die from it. But their bodies are healthy, so live --- unless they do something deliberate.)
