Two Petitions To Keep The Message Boards Open...

I've just heard, that there are TWO petitions, to keep the IMDB message boards open...

Here are the links:

https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/petition-to-keep-the-imdb-messageboards-going#

https://www.change.org/p/imdb-stop-imdb-from-disabling-the-message-boards?recruiter=27917358&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink

I really don't want to see IMDb close any of these message boards down. I've been posting on them for over 11 years, and I have never seen another site that has such well rounded topics of discussions... I love being able to talk about just about anything here, and I don't think there really is a place that compares to IMDb. We need this place to keep going!

I know it is a long shot, because most of the time petitions don't work... But every once in awhile, they do... and it can't hurt to try...

I signed BOTH petitions!

Please sign them too, and spread the word about them through the other Message Boards...

The more people that sign them, the better!

Closing boards seems like to me... Facebook bought them out so they can control everyone. FB is even more negative than IMDB!

Not everyone uses "Social Media". And even more people don't use Facebook.

I had an account for a while, but I couldn't get the website to work for me anymore, so I quit using it...

Twitter is a joke. Twitter has a character number limit, and half of what I just wrote won't fit into a single tweet. Writing movie reviews? Impossible.

I really don't see how they think social media can replace these message boards.

And If IMDb thinks this will help their website, they are dead wrong. Most people come here for the message boards. Not many other sites have them...

AND...

While they are here, many review movies and rate them. Who do they think will do this now, with everyone going elsewhere...

Some members are even talking about closing their accounts here. Long Time Members! All those reviews and ratings will be deleted when that happens. There goes their entire website, for advertising, and making money of movies.

And as for new movies, many come here to learn more about them and ask questions before they go to see them... I guess movies won't be make much money at the box office anymore.

Uggh... What a nightmare they are creating...

You need a stronger argument than that, life existed before the internet. People have always gone to the movies way before IMDB days, I'm not sure box office sales are a direct result of this site and you can still write and rate movies (I think), it only says the message boards are going, the rest are different features of the site.
