Your first Joaquin Phoenix movie?

Didn't know about this actor until I watched Gladiator. I am suprised that he didn't win an oscar (don't know how good benicio was in Traffic) since his acting was superb.

The first film I saw was Quills. It was released the same year as Gladiator. I didn't realise it was the same actor. He was so different, both physically and as a character. Brilliant in both.

Parenthood. Of course, back then I didn't know it was him.

I saw him first in To Die For, Clay Pigeons and 8mm but Gladiator was the first "big" role.

Hmmm, I guess Parents, although I didn't know who he was at the time. I did know when Inventing the Abbotts came out. The movie was based on a favorite short story of mine, so I was eager to see it. Have to confess, I was much more wrapped up in Billy Crudup's storyline. I thought he and Joanna Going were fabulous on screen together, very believable as a 50s couple.

We have what we seek, it is there all the time, and if we give it time, it will make itself known.
