Well, she graduated from Columbia University, which a pretty prestigious school, so I'd say she's probably not dumb. I think I read somewhere that she majored in history.

Ahhh, yeah, Columbia is an IVY LEAGUE school, so yes, it is prestigious. LOL!

As far as the OP's orginal post goes, I think she's always had an enormous crush on Cusack and thus, her thinking and logic may not be as sharp and clear when she's giddy and lustful.
I'm sure even Einstein was capable of sounding silly or dull when seeming blinded by lust.

I saw her interview from the movie 'Identity' where she said something like she kept asking for a sex scene with John, or at least a kiss. the director said it doesn't go with the story and she asked 'what does it matter?' - if you are doing a movie if the storyline doesnt' matter with the content, then what does? lol

Where did you read this? It's possible she's being sarcastic in a joking way. People do that sometimes when they were being interviewed.
