This Just In: Count Her IN for a Oscar nod!

Precursers are showing that they love her performance in FYC. She has been nominated for a Independant Spirit Award. Her real compitition will be Jennifer Hudson for 'Dreamgirls'. Wouldn't it be great if she was nominated and won for a role that involved mocking being nominated for an Oscar? I truely believe that this is not a role that AMPAS will pass up this year come Oscar time!

Yes, I, too, think she'll get nominated. The Independent Spirit Award nod bodes well for her, and I actually think she will face stiffer competition from the actresses from Babel (most notably Adriana Barazza) if they are also nominated, than Jennifer Hudson.

I hope O'Hara does get the nod I predict she'll receive. It's the funniest performance and film about an actor being nominated (or possibly being nominated) since Maggie Smith in California Suite. Good luck, Ms. O'Hara!

She was also named Best Supporting Actress by the NBR - so she's looking good for an Oscar nom.

The last time a similar role was nominated I think was Maggie Smith in California Suite and she won an Oscar. Not sure if FYC is a similar kind of movie (i'm assuming it is). So that could help her.

Glad to see Catherine is getting some way overdue recognition. I've been a fan since the local station in New York aired the half hour version of SCTV back in the 70's.

It'd be great to see her nominated for this. She makes me laugh so hard it hurts!

You know they might do it so she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress and have Helen Mirren nominated for Best Actress. I think that would be hysterical, especially if they both won since they are my two favourite actresses.

Remember Frances McDormand winning for Fargo? No one saw that one coming. I think it's Catherine's year. :)
