We've lost a national treasure
We have lost someone who was a treasure to us all. She will be missed. Mary Tyler Moore was one of a kind.
Condolences to her family.

Man she is a real treasure especially when it comes to paving the way for female entertainers. She easily had one of the most important shows that ever aired on television. This is a true lost right here but at least she made it to 80 unlike some of the younger entertainers we lose way too son.

I NEVER repeat gossip! So ya better listen up the first time!
There were a lot of sitcoms before, and certainly too many to count afterwards, but even though it has been some 40 years since the Mary Tyler Moore Show last aired, it remains the greatest sitcom of all-time IMO. Great cast - the best ever assembled, but the main reason? The magical Mary Tyler Moore. This one hurts.
shareNah. Seinfeld is better.
shareSeinfeld was great and I don't even think it was better than Friends honestly but no neither show is not better or as important as MTM was, MTM was an institution it was actually more than just a comedy. It actually served a purpose for an entire gender that was trying to break those barriers.
shareAnother great show for sure, but agree to disagree. MTM was ground-breaking - a professional, empowered, single woman at the time was not something commonly accepted or embraced.
shareExactly her show came out during a time where that kind of lifestyle was not accepted or looked down upon.
shareOne was THE sitcom that caught the 1970's, the other was THE sitcom that caught the 1990's.
Two different decades and TV styles, but each brilliant.
