Damn it all! Too slow…

Missed the chance to score a ticket before it sold out..

Guess I’ll be watching the televised show from my couch then. Bet it will be a blinder, KM has been very vocal about how much she missed live performance through the pandemic. Apparently she plans to debut new material from her upcoming 16th studio album too.

Bless her heart, supporting the rainbow crowd since 88 😍🌈

IT'S WEIRD...AS AN AMERICAN I MOSTLY KNOW HER FROM SMALL ROLES IN BAD MOVIES AND A COUPLE HITS IN THE LATE 90S...I DID KNOW SHE SUPPORTED THE RAINBOW CROWD SOMEHOW THOUGH...OH...I RECENTLY WATCHED A DOCUMENTARY ON ESTELLE GETTY AND WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN SHE WAS ALSO A DEVOTED SUPPORTER.

reply

Yep.. most Americans might remember The Locomotion, Can’t Get You Out of My Head, Streefighter (cringe) or Bio-Dome (double cringe) and that’s about it! To Europe, Asia and the Pacific though she has been a legend for almost 40 years.

I did not know that about Estelle, good for her! I did know Betty White was a staunch ally though. That woman had a heart of pure gold, I miss her.

reply

YUP THOSE ARE THE MOVIES AND SONGS.

ESTELLE WAS IN THE TORCH SONG TRILOGY AND BECAME AS HARVEY FIERSTEIN CALLED HER "A MOTHER TO ALL THE GAYS"...MANY OF THE CAST WERE GAY AND AFFECTED BY AIDS IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER...SO ESTELLE BECAME SUPER INVOLVED IN THE AIDS AWARENESS MOVEMENT...ROSIE ODONNELL SAID SHE WENT TO EVERY DINNER AND BENEFIT AND ESTELLE WAS ALWAYS THERE.

BETTY WAS JUST A GEM OF A HUMAN BEING...I WORRY WHAT THE WORLD WILL BE LIKE WITHOUT HER IN IT.

reply

Oh man, I’m getting quite the education here I didn’t realise Estelle was in the stage version of TST. I really loved the film.. such an impressive cast and funny, moving story. I might have to revisit it sometime soon.

Agree 100% about Betty. What a bright light she was. And so damned funny on and off screen. I always laugh when I think of her and that timeless quote.. “Why do people say, ‘Grow some balls’? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you really wanna get tough, grow a vagina. Those things really take a pounding!” 😃😆😂🤣

reply

I'M A SUCKER FOR ALL FOUR GOLDEN GIRLS ON AND OFF SCREEN...I HAVE READ BIOGRAPHIES OR AUTOBIOGRAPHIES AND WATCHED DOCUMENTARIES ON ALL OF THEM....BETTY PASSING WAS THE END OF AN ERA...SHE APPEARED IN TEST FOOTAGE FOR THE VERY FIRST TV BROADCAST AS A TEENAGER...SHE WAS THERE AT THE BIRTH OF TV...AND SHE WAS ALWAYS THERE...FUNNY HOW I JUST COLD STOPPED WATCHING TV A COUPLE YEARS AGO...JUST WASN'T THE SAME THING FOR ME ANYMORE...I SUSPECT THIS TO BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE BETTY WHITE ERA.

Everybody loves Kylie in the UK.

Indeed, she’s your adopted National Treasure! Did you know that she recently moved back home to Australia and is now based back in Melbourne? I was surprised (and I have to admit a little chuffed) that our girl came home. I fully expected her to live out her days in London after living there for 30 odd years.

reply

Yes, it was a running joke on a comedy show Men Behaving Badly (one of the guys was in love with her).

I heard she’d moved back 😢

reply

Yeah I remember that, I believe she made a cameo appearance in one episode as herself too.

reply

Yes, towards the end of the series.

reply

I took the wife to see her about 12 years ago and it was a great night.

reply

YOU AND THE WIFE BOUGHT HER BRUNO STYLE FOR THE NIGHT DIDN'T YOU?🙂

reply

Boo! I'm sorry you missed out on tickets, but at least you can see it televised. I don't know if that really is a comfort.

reply

Aw thanks love 🤗

You know, I don’t mind too much watching from home. If it wasn’t for Kylie I wouldn’t even consider going to a Pride event. Don’t get me wrong, I 100% support them and think it’s great for the community to get together and celebrate, and I’ve enjoyed the few times I’ve attended Mardi Gras back in the day, but massive crowds are no longer my thing. I hung up my hot pants a while ago.. not that I ever wore hot pants, but you catch my drift 🤭😉

reply

Lol. I get it. There have been a lot of events I've considered going to in the last couple of years and then decided that there would be people there. I'd rather stay home.

reply

NO HOT PANTS....QUIT KILLIN' MY DREAMS!😥

reply

Haha.. oh stop it!

I’m so not your stereotypical gay clothes horse lol My preferred outfit choice of jeans and a T-shirt has had little variation over the past four decades.
