I wish he didn't devote so much of his career to Elementary

He made Trainspotting 2 in 2017. Before that you have to go all the way back to 2012 for the last film he appeared in, Byzantium.

I've been a fan of JLM since 1994, when he starred in Hackers. That was a great role for him and put him on the map for me.

I just saw that Elementary is finally ending after seven seasons. Holy shit. Why did it last so long? It's not bad . . . for a network show. But that's a long time to lock an actor up.

I am also a fan of JLM and I loved Elementary, but about the last 2-3 season or so the show really went off the rails.
He also had 3 directing credits. So, it seems he was in it for the long haul. The character he played was extremely complex, so it seems he really enjoyed it for that period of time.
