My personal favorites:

The Professionals
Point Blank
Emperor of the North tied with The Dirty Dozen

He had two main personas: The silent, in-control tough guy and the boozy, roughhousing rogue. I prefer the silent tough guy, but honorable mention goes to his classic drunken sot in Shout at the Devil.

I have to admit though I haven't seen a lot of his older stuff.

Then you're in for a real treat when you do! :)

If anyone here hasn't seen 'Hell in the Pacific' (1968) it is a very interesting and different war movie.

(Don't research it, better if you watch it knowing nothing about the film)

Agreed, a great film!

No post that leaves out Paint Your Wagon can be right, that movie was great, and one of Lee Marvin's best.
