The differences being that Manson has a long list of women claiming that he abused them over many years. Depp did not have that. Most of women who had been with Depp claimed he never did anything to hurt them. Even the ones who hated him, like Barkin, had to admit he never hit them.
And Depp for the most part was a lovable figure. No matter what was going on, you couldn't help but liking Johnny. Marilyn Manson would never garner that kind of sympathy.
