Please, he overacted his ass off in Brothers. It's actually embarrassing to watch.

Is only embarassing if you watch the end scene without context as is what so many did online. If this film had been made 20 years ago his acting would have gotten more respect as a soldier suffering from PTSD due to beating his comrade to death in order to survive.
